2007: Freak Duo!

The Pittsburgh Freaks defeated the Cincinnati Dragons 176-141 to bring home their first XFFL Championship.  The Freaks’ connection of Ben Roethlisberger and Braylon Edwards could not be stopped in the playoffs.

2007, was the first year the Pro Bowl was played in the XFFL.  It is played immediately following the XFFL Championship game.  It features a game between the two divisions where each team from each division must provide at least one offensive and one defensive player to the team.

As an expansion team in 2007, it took the team 31 games and 3 seasons before they tasted success in the XFFL.  Their 30 game losing streak still stands as a record today.

In 2007, Adam Barnhardt finally received his chance at an XFFL franchise in 2007 and he set up shop in Glendale, Arizona as the Nighthawks.

The 2007 season would be the last one where there was an XFFL team in Phoenix.  Dave Hopper took his franchise and moved them to Tampa Bay and renamed them the Tampa Bay Thunder.
